Hi I am writing this 20 months after I had the baby. I was hesitant at first but I need to write this so others can know. I had a good experience with my doctor and nurses but the hospital stay was terrible. We were not given the option of hotel stay.when asked they said it's not available. We were really looking forward to it and were really disappointed. The room was very small , my husband had to sleep on the tiny bed. I also found spider in the room on my bed and in the bathroom which is such dangerous thing when you have a newborn. Also they sent me a bill for a doctor who was just accompanying my doctor. I dint even know who was that.If anyone planning to have a baby in this hospital I highly recommend not to.
I had both my babies in Frances Perry house and we are extremely happy with both experiences. My eldest was born in 2021 in the midst of covid and my latest admission was in September 23 just over a week ago. I went into labour earlier than expected and the staffs on the phone was extremely reassuring and made me feel very comfortable. When I reached the hospital, everything was arranged spontaneously and my birth was such an amazing experience. I am forever grateful for the care and kindness I received from the birth suite and the ward . Sinead and Annie were so kind, reassuring and caring ( birth suite midwives) . The midwives in the ward were all so caring, empathetic and patient with all my concerns and needs. Special thanks to the midwives Liv, Lauren, Cassie, Anna, Amaal & Vicky. I have so much gratitude for the kindness and care I received from all the staff. They always made sure my needs were met and always ensured I was comfortable and cared for. In addition, The food was amazing! Definitely 5 star worthy. The hospital definitely fed me well and had a very impressive variety too. I was given the option to the Hyatt but chose to stay in the hospital as the service I received was top notch and I wanted to learn as much as I could from the midwives. ( they will educate you on everything - especially useful for new parents) I highly recommend Frances Perry house and I am very confident with the midwives in this hospital and would not hesitate to recommend this hospital to anyone. Keep up the amazing work ❤️
A service i received during my journey was great and memorable. Thank you to level 6 birth suit team and specially thank you to midwife/nurse Jen, you are the best. The way you care/treat me during my labour was unforgettable. I really appreciate for your support and help.
Furthermore, i would like to thank level 7 maternity ward for looking after us after delivery.
I would say every staff i met up there was great, professional and respectful.
I had the most incredible experience through FPH. I was wanting an intervention free birth as possible however in a hospital setting. I was assigned Nikki as a midwife in my
Labour along with a student midwife and it was the most beautiful experience. Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to have an emergency cesarean and was given plenty of information, support and guidance from all doctors and midwives. The postnatal care was second to none. The food, 24h care and education I received as a first time mum made it really hard to leave but I cannot recommend enough and will definitely be back with any future children.
It has taken me almost 24 months to write this review because of the trauma I experienced and still experience to this day at the hands of this 'care' facility.
When my baby was less than 12 hours old, I was told by a graduate midwife to give my baby a dummy because she was hungry rather than supporting me to navigate breastfeeding.
I was on multiple occasions given doses of pain medication well before I was due because my prior dose hadn't been written down. Luckily I was lucid enough to keep track and reminded the midwife's who each time just said 'oops, it wasn't written down'. Overdosing otherwise would have occurred.
I wasn't given any information on the significant damage sustained during birth or how to effectively recover when I returned home.
I was given medication known to cause side effects which were not counteracted resulting in me returning to hospital the same day I was discharged due to these side effects.
The midwife who weighed my baby on day 2 miscalculated the percentage drop in weight of my baby which meant intervention did not occur to support me in my feeding journey and resulting in a 13% weight loss on the day of discharge. My baby at this point had lost so much weight she was sleepy all the time and didn't have the energy to feed.
The midwife who calculated the final weight casually told me to give my baby formula and that I probably wouldn't be able to breastfeed. She then spoke about her own struggles in breastfeeding and how she just gave her babies formula. I have nothing against formula but I do have an issue with a projection of someone else's issues on to a first time, anxious mother who had already had a terrible experience at this hospital and who desperately wanted to breastfeed.
While some of the midwives were supportive, empathetic and seemed to actually care, all staff were over worked, and not given adequate or consistent training and many should not work in a caring profession. Every midwife I spoke to asked why I breastfeeding this way, or burping my baby that way even though the prior midwife had just told me to do it that way. It was confusing, disheartening and hugely disappointing for a first time mother who put all her faith and the health of herself and baby in the hands of this company. Resulting in an 8 week struggle to establish feeding which had earlier intervention taken place, would not have taken so long, permanent physical damage caused by not managing the known side effect of the pain medication, a now long-term mental health issues.
Overall this was a shocking experience at the hands of Frances Perry House. And one that I still suffer diagnosed PTSD from.
I had surgery today for the first time ever at the Frances Perry Hospital. I just wanted to express my love and thanks to the 2 lovely reception ladies at Level 6 who were so kind to me (I had a lot of anxiety) And to Nurse Jenny who is truly a hero. She was so very caring of me and held my hand the whole way! She is truly amazing. Thank you
My friend recently gave birth to her second baby at Frances Perry House, which was her first experience delivering a baby in Australia. Unfortunately, her experience at the hospital has been quite disappointing.
One of the most concerning issues was that the hospital did not provide her with the Birth Declaration Form, which is essential for registering the baby with Centralink and accessing parental payments. As both my friend and her partner do not speak English fluently, I offered my assistance in obtaining the form from the hospital.
However, the staff I spoke to over the phone were extremely rude and disrespectful. They provided conflicting information about the form, stating that the patient needed to sign it before being discharged so they definitely should have the form, but later saying that the OB or midwife should have completed it and given to them. In the end, the form was never given to my friend, despite its significance in the registration process.
In contrast, I distinctly remember that when I had my baby at a public hospital, the nurse handed me the form in person, emphasizing its importance. It is disheartening that such care and attention were not extended to my friend, especially considering the language barrier they faced during their three-night stay at the hospital, which cost them over $6,000.
Moreover, I was shocked by the blatant discrimination my friend and her partner experienced as Asian individuals. It is disheartening to see such mistreatment in a reputable institution like Frances Perry House.
I am deeply disappointed in the hospital's conduct and the lack of empathy shown towards my friend during what should have been a joyous time for her family. The discriminatory treatment and unprofessional behavior displayed by the staff have left a lasting negative impression. When I requested to make a formal complaint, they just rudely hang up on me.
I sincerely hope that Frances Perry House addresses these issues promptly and takes the necessary steps to ensure that all patients receive the respectful and compassionate care they deserve, regardless of their background or language proficiency.
I just want to add another comment: hospital put a response there showing that they cared, however, I contacted them through the email they provided with my mobile number, but nobody responded in either way. Besides that, my friend checked out one day earlier but paid for 4 days and she has been chasing up with the hospital for the refund of $1150, but still haven't got anything back for almost a month.
I had a wonderful experience having my first child at Frances Perry House. The midwives, especially those working at the Grand Hyatt were incredible and extremely patient and supportive with me. The Grand Hyatt stay is fantastic (I hope FPH …
